EQWIP HUBS and the Vocational Training Authority of Zanzibar partnered in 2015 to create a youth hub space at the Mwanakwerekwe VTA Centre. The hub employs local staff and volunteers who will host training sessions for youth in the formal and informal sectors, equipping them with the employment and entrepreneurship skills needed to create or find a job. It is also a computer lab where youth can go to learn and use technology. The project will impact more than 2,500 youth in Zanzibar over the next five years. EQWIP HUBS is a Canadian government funded project that combines the expertise of Youth Challenge International (YCI) and Canada World Youth (CWY), two leading Canadian non-profit organizations.
