Mwanakwerekwe Vocational Training Authority (MKVTC)
Mwanakwerekwe Vocational Training Center is a government center managed by the Vocational Training Authority, which is under the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training. It started offering its training in 1992, at that time it was under the management of the Zanzibar Labour Commission. During that period, the center was offering training in tailoring and sewing, as well as arts and crafts, such as woodcarving to produce various items like furniture and household decorations. Until 2010, the center was transferred to the Ministry of Education and Culture under the Zanzibar Vocational Training Authority and began offering training in four fields, namely: tailoring, sewing, Information and Communication Technology, and Electronics. Later, the center added another field, which is Electrical Installation, making the total number of fields to five.
The Mwanakwerekwe Vocational Training Center does not have accommodation services .
ENG. CHUMU HAJI JUMA
CENTRE MANAGER
Eng. Chum Haji Juma is the Centre Manager and a teacher of ICT, Mathematics, and Electrical at Mwanakwerekwe Vocational Training Centre. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Engineering from the Dar es Salaam Institute of Technology (DIT) and a Full Technical Certificate in Electrical Engineering from Karume Technical College, now known as the Karume Institute of Technology (KIST).
